Video text:

hey guys welcome back to let’s play guitar and in today’s listen I’m gonna show you how to play a river flows in you by Yiruma and screed song beautiful song and quite popular as well to play this one we’re going to put a cable on second fret and we’re in standard tuning and it’s all it’s required to play the song let’s get right into it okay before we start you can also check out some of my other finger style arrangement lessons I’ve got a complete playlist for that so you can click somewhere on the screen or go to my channel and find lots of different arrangements sitting in love let’s start with the intro over here we’re gonna play that little part one more time all right then so I’m starting out by playing open on third string and open on second string all right and now second fret on the fourth string and third fret on the first string together so next you’re going to pick open on 3rd string and 2nd fret on the first string so next you’re going to come back to third fret on the first string and you along with that you’re going to play open on second string right after that you’re gonna come back to second fret on the first string and along with that open on third string so everything put together okay once again next you come over here so see at nine card second fret sorry third fret on the 5th string 3rd fret on first two strings as well okay first you playing fifth string and first string together next shebang open on 3rd string 2nd 3rd fret on the second string pick together so after that first string third fret then first fret on 2nd string along with that open on third string so everything but together gives gives you this okay so that little part is now complete you’re just going to repeat that one more time okay okay now the next part we’re going to learn is gonna go like this okay so you again starting out by playing open on third string open on second string and the intra is the beginning is the same second fret on fourth string third fret on first you pick together okay so and now here you have open on third string along with that second fair on first string back together and then third fair on first string so after that so this is going to be second film fourth string open on card string then second fret and third fret on the first string okay and now so third fret on 5th string perfer on first two strings picking strings five three open two and then one so okay Watsky and now so three on fifth string open on 3rd string and 1st fret on 2nd string okay all right now the next spot if you want to make it simple you can just play that fit on top string and open on second string and then but it’s supposed to be like this okay so here what we’re doing is surfer on top string and along with that little finger is on third fret of third string and you need to play both strings together on the third string going to move one fret up okay do a little slide over here like that then first fret on the second string and you can do a little finger roll over here open on fourth string open on third string and third fret on second street so after that you play open on the second string and after that you come over here on D card open on fourth string and 2nd fit on 3rd string ok so let’s take it from over here all right now the next part of the gig Lannisters so that’s going to be open on third string fourth fret on fourth string then open on third string along with that open on top string we come to a second theorem fifth string and for three okay next spot sorry about that okay so here what winning is doing a hammer on from open the second fret on third string and 3rd fret on fifth string and open on 2nd string play together and second film fourth string and open on third string so it’s like this okay once again so that’s going to be a hammer on from open to first fret on second string and three and three on top string and 2nd string then open on fourth string and that string enough that pull off from one to open on second string open on 4th string and 2nd Ferran third string pick together okay so let’s put all of that together I’m gonna go slow and after that this is optional you can play fourth fret on 4th string just slightly okay and now we’re going to repeat everything from over here all of that just when you repeat everything all over again do a one point where after that there’s going to be a few changes so the next time just don’t play open on 3rd string and 2nd Street ok don’t play that play everything after that so so first time beside like this will open on 3rd string and 2nd string right a second time you’re going to live out that open on 3rd and 2nd strings so until this point everything will remain the same remember this what I told you to do a finger roll open on fourth string third string and therfore on second string okay then let me repeat what we’re going to play the second time once again that’s it now we’re going to move over here so that’s going to be seventh fret one two three four five six seven fret on the first string then fifth fret on the first string along with that you can play open on 4th string then after that okay now this is a lot of this is a big stretch over here so what I like to do is play the same note on third string so here you have seven feet on third string and along with that you’re going to do a hammer on and pull off from five to seven and then from 75 again like this okay so third fit sorry third string seventh fret along with that so and after that three and two on first string so okay you can do a slide back if you want three two then after that open on top string and therfore on First Street live together in second film fourth string and open on third string after that everything is the same so hammered on opened the second fret on third string and third fit on fifth string and open on second street big together second fell on fourth string open on third stream little hammer on from open to first with on SEC industry then come over here on jr4 on fifth string third fret on top string and third fret on the second string pick together open on fourth and third strings then just like before pull off one to open on second string and come to D over here so open on fourth string and 2nd fret on 3rd string together and then what you going to do is you’re going to again play open on 4th string and 2nd fret on 3rd string and then you go to you can call this the chorus of this arrangement in this spot you know all of that so ok so that’s why it’s important to once you pick two strings together you again pick open on 4th string and then 2nd fret on that string so so now I’m going to play everything from the beginning from the very start of the arrangement to this point that we’ve learned okay I’m gonna go really slow for you guys ok so be that fun ski okay now we come over here okay now we’re going to learn the next spot so that’s the first thing if you realize this okay so the first thing that we’re doing is doing a slide from three to five on the first string and then we’re doing a pull off from three to two on the first string okay now it’s one thing I want to tell you right now there are little changes on the way you do this but okay so I want to show you those changes right over here because everything else remains the same and that pod just keeps on repeating over in the world okay okay so the first thing that Audrey taught you was the slight thing where then applause okay now you can also do this okay that’s also played in some pots so three and five separately and then a pull off sorry a slide back from three to two okay so either/or now the third way to play this is this okay so here what we do is we pick third fret on 1st string and then we do the slide and then slide back again okay then we do a pull up from three so it’s like this so the first where was this second way was and third way okay so first two times with string this and enough of that so that’s going to be open on top string and third fit on first string pick together then second federal fourth string third fret on the second string and open on third street once again now this these middle strings if we are picking that can always change because when you’re performing you know you might play some different different strings at different times so don’t worry too much about that I’m just giving you a sample of what you can play open on top string perfect on fourth string second fit on fourth string third fret on second street let’s see open on three so from here next time again you do that slide bluff and then so here third fret on fifth string third fret on top street first we pick together then open on third string third fret on the second string open on Kisuke okay so first time second time so this change in based on from open to the fifth string over here now again do the slide pull off then you come over here so that’s going to be cut fit on top string and first string pick together and right over there you also do a slide from three to five on first string so and then you’re going to play seventh fret on for a string I’m going to do is slide up to eight and again another slide up to ten so all of this is just in one pick okay and then C will fit on first string then ten and eight on second string okay over here you’re going to play open on third string seventh fret on 2nd string pick together and then 17 on 3rd string and then open on third string fourth string he’s a six once again seventh fret on second string and open on 4th string and seventh fret on the third string and open on phone rings oh so let’s take it from here once again okay first time second time okay so that’s one segment you know to beat that four times second time let’s do that second time okay two times done now third and fourth time we can do this okay that for the third variation that I showed you so we’re going to do this third and fourth time fourth time again so forth time what’s happening is this little change over here in the very end so here what’s happening is open on fourth string seventh fret on the second string big together then seven foot on third string and then you need to base seventh fret on 4th string and let’s do a slide all the way back to the fourth fret on the same 4th Street ok so the fourth time once again that completes our chorus all right awesome now you’ve almost learned 80% of this arrangement so congratulations on that now what’s gonna happen is so you’re just gonna repeat everything that we learned from the start except the intro except this part except this little bot which was the intro if you remember everything else after that they’re proven you’re just going to repeat that all over again okay so from here right all of this the choruses well everything else everything is going to be repeated so after that you come to the bridge of the song you can call that the bridge I’m gonna call it the bridge and the four that are we gonna start by learning this spot so we’re going to end the second chorus over here okay and now we get into the bridge okay all of that so so okay keep your finger over there on the fourth fret of the fourth string and now what’s gonna happen is you’re gonna do a finger roll from open on the sixth string fourth fret on the fourth string and open on third string the open our second string okay cut fit on first string second fret on 4th string then open on top string and 2nd fret on first string then open on 3rd string and second string next so open on first string third fret on the second string then three and three on fifth string and 2nd string pic together so they open on first string and then first we’re on second string along with that you can play the bass one on the fifth string way up so you can just pay for it by itself on the second string okay so and then so that’s going to be opened on third string second fret on fourth string again open on Third Street and again singing for non stop for three so let’s take it from what we hear after this free to play third film second string open on first string so okay after that open on 5th string open on 3rd Street and first fret on the second string the second fret fourth string open on third string okay so let’s take it from here after this once again you’re going to play sick Inferno fourth string open on third string and then so this is open on 4th string 2nd fret on the third string 1st fret 2nd string all three pick together the 3 times open on 2nd string okay then two times second film third string and then so third fill on top string second fret on 3rd string pick together and open on second string two times and in the way and you can do open on that string open force you know pond untouched uni let’s check it from here again this I know this is kind of complicated but this over this spot in this body can you have to be a little patient okay so let’s take it again from where now you can repeat the the starting of the bridge again before that you need to open on third string fourth fret on fourth string and then open on sixth string open on third string so in two times open on second string thought fit on 4th string 2nd fret on 4th Street so we ended the first segment over here you know the second segment okay that stuff we found so far for the second segment once again then second film files string okay and then after that you get to play a second final question again along with that open on fourth string so and second fit on college string open on the second string okay after that so open on first string third fret on the second string and once again careful on the second string along with that fit on fifth string open on 1st string and once again open on 1st string with the bass note on the 5th string okay then once again you get to do open on third string second fret and 4th string open on 3rd string and then now and that will be it for the bridge so what are you doing a second film fifth string open on third string and third fret on second string all three strings speak together then open on third string and first fret on 2nd string and open on both 3rd and 2nd strings after that open on fifth string open on third string open on the second string oh three big together and then first fret on second string so after that so open on third string then toughen on fifth string second fret on fourth string open on Third Street for thread on your fourth string and that will complete the bridge let’s take it from here the second segment okay and that is it for the whole arrangement because after this what you’re going to do is you’re going to go straight back to the chorus going to play the chorus of segment four times just like always and end it over here so you can do that you can end it on your own way I like to do it like this so what I’m doing over here is open on top string second fourth fit on fourth string and open on third string finger roll band fourth fret on fourth string open on third string open on second string and a harmonic on open on the first string so basically because you have capo on second fret you need to just touch second three red fret related to the capo touch your string over there on the metallic bar over here and pick it with your thumb pick the string with your thumb like that okay so that’s just how I like to end it you can choose your own ending if you want and that is it for River flows in you by Yiruma I hope you like to listen and if you did like it then make sure to check out other finger style arrangement citizens as well that I’ve created for you guys have got a playlist Silicon chick and you can check that out I’ll see you guys in the next lesson thanks for They say it takes 10,000 hours to master a skill (like playing the Guitar). I say people waste a LOT of time when they’re not efficient with their practice and they don’t understand diminishing returns. If you want to fast track your learning check out the [Guitar Hacks] guide on learning to play the guitar in a fraction of the time especially if you’re older this can really give you an edge.
